An Organization with a Mission

Discover the World, Inc. is a Christian non-profit organization dedicated to serving the church through short-term mission by enabling people to respond personally to the physical and spiritual needs of the world near and far.

The Discover the World curriculum has been designed to assist churches in the development of mission awareness.  Through this program, participants are trained and equipped to move across cultural boundaries - both within the U.S. and around the world - for purposes of sharing Christian love and service.

Discover the World, Inc. was founded by Drs. Douglas and Jacquelyn Millham.  Doug and Jackie have served in team ministry since 1975, and have been directly involved in cross-cultural mission leadership since 1981.

The Millhams have coordinated numerous short-term mission trips to many parts of the world. Their backgrounds include extensive mission consultation work with churches across the United States and in several foreign countries, a pastorate in California, and four years of refugee and relief ministry in Africa and Asia.

Doug Millham is an ordained Presbyterian minister, and holds a doctorate from Fuller Theological Seminary's School of World Mission.  Jackie Millham holds a master's degree in inter-cultural studies, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology. She also is the author and co-developer of the Discover the World curriculum.

Along with selected alumni of the mission program, Doug and Jackie conduct the training and provide the primary leadership for Discover the World.
